Day 1 of the San Francisco trip, February 21, 2008, began with a 4:50 wake up. After a short stay near the airport in Buffalo, we got up early to reach the goal of our 5-day winter holiday in San Francisco. After a brief stop at the airport in Cincinnati, where we walk towards the gate to catch the connecting flight, we arrived in San Francisco, about 11 clock. Unfortunately the weather was not very welcoming: it was rainy, cold and gray. But nevertheless, webrave our way with all our luggage in the city, with all types of public transport: first the Airtrain, then the BART train, then a couple of municipal buses through a fairly rough (the Tenderloin) to get to our hotel The Queen Anne Hotel, a property near the Victorian heritage of Japantown. After settling in I took a tour from the manager who showed me many of the 48 individually decorated rooms and explained that this was finishing school for girls'School. Many antique touches adorn this historic family-run hotel: from antique cast iron stoves, the original plaster ceiling medallions in the windows, this historic building has been carefully preserved and adapted.
